Lyrics: Our Lady of Pain

Cannibal/poet Charles Swinburne has written some cool shit.  Here's one about chewin' on a lady friend.

Our Lady of Pain

By the ravenous teeth that have smitten
Through kisses that blossom and bud
By the lips intertwisted and bitten
Till the foam has a savour of blood
By the pulse as it rises and falters
By the hands as they slacken and strain
I adjure thee, respond from thy altars
Our Lady of Pain

By the hunger of change and emotion
The thirst of unbearable things
Despair, born of devotion
A pleasure that winces and stings
Delight that consumes desire
Desire that outruns the light
By the cruelty, deaf as a fire
And blind as the night

All the joys of the flesh, all the sorrows
Fierce midnights and famishing morrows

In a twilight where virtues are vices
In chapels unknown of the sun
To a tune that enthralls and entices
They were wed and the dead were as one
For the tune from the altar has sounded
The orgy of the dead will begin
and the smell of the corpses abounded
to sweeten the sin

The worms will revive you with kisses
Thou shall change and transmute as a god
Feeding the serpent that hisses
and bathing the serpent in blood
Your life shall not cease though you want it
You shall live until evil be slain
and the good shall die first said the prophet
Our Lady of Pain

All the joys of the flesh, all the sorrows
Fierce midnights and famishing morrows

All the joys of the flesh, all the sorrows
Fierce midnights and famishing morrows

Burning the Candle at Both Ends

After recording our demo earlier this summer Enochian Mass has taken a break over the past few weeks.  During that time we've joined up with another guitarist and slowed the tempo, but not the self abuse or drug intake.  All of this is alive and well.  The sound reminds me of Witchfinder General, which is not only a great band but also a fantastic movie.
